Do not waste your situation
Philippians 1:12-18

Believe that there are no useless situations in your life.   Hardships, failures even idle moments - these are moments God wants to use to further your life and further his Gospel through you.   Notice the two verses:


  • Isaiah 55:8-9
  • Romans 8:28
In our lesson, despite Paul being in jail, he realize that these are not stops nor pauses at all.  To Paul, he saw his situation this way: 

1.  To advance the gospel (v.12)
Describe your most recent experience in advancing the gospel among your family, neighborhood, work, friends or strangers?  If there is none, describe your most likely style in how to advance the gospel among your family, neighbor, co-workers, friends or strangers?  

2.  To build confidence in the Lord (v.14)
In what way have you seen your experiences be an encouragement for other people? 


3.  Christ is preached (v.15-18)
In this section, Paul wanted us to be careful of wrong attitudes in sharing Jesus to others.  They are: 
  • envy, rivalry, ambition, insincere, stir trouble and false motives
What can you do to ensure that when you do something for Jesus they are out of good will and out of love?

Philippians 1:1-11 What Can I Pray For You?

Last Sunday, we looked at several items on Paul's opening letter to the church in Philippi.
